Automotive Studies

The Automotive Studies department is the largest College based Automotive training establishment
in Scotland and one of the largest in the UK. It’s custom built, fully equipped training workshops, diagnostic labs and classrooms are the most technologically advanced in the country and are used for the delivery of a wide range of Automotive qualifications and Automotive Technician Accreditation (ATA).

Beauty Therapy & Hairdressing

With commercial beauty therapy and hairdressing salons and a highly motivated and knowledgeable
staff team, you are guaranteed an enjoyable, interesting and worthwhile experience. Strong links with industry provide you with real opportunities to succeed in your chosen career, offering a clear route through your qualifications to gain the skills and knowledge you need to fulfil your passion for beauty and hair.

Business & Management

The Business Department will ensure you gain the skills appropriate to today’s industry.You will be given a positive experience, gaining qualifications and broadening your horizons. HN students have the opportunity to visit the Scottish Parliament, whilst we add value by having guest speakers and visits to local places of interest increasing your knowledge and keeping you focused..

Care

Providing a range of well-established successful courses in Health, Social and Child Care, that will help
you commence a career in care or further develop your knowledge. Courses benefit from strong links with employers, including nurseries, care providers and hospitals. We have a diverse blend of expertise along with state of the art equipment that will enable you to gain skills in a realistic working environment.

Computing, IT & Creative Arts

Our courses cover the full range of Computing and Creative Industries ranging from Information Technology and Computing to Animation and Photography. In the area of Computing and IT we offer courses covering Networking, Security, Support, Applications and Software Development.
Our creative courses include 3D Animation, Web Development and Interactive Media and Photography, Computer Aided Design and Computer Aided Architectural Technology.
As well as gaining the SQA qualifications, there will also be opportunities to take professional qualifications,

Engineering

The Engineering Department offers full time courses up to HNC and HND level in Mechanical, Electrical,
Construction and Fabrication Engineering.We also support Modern Apprentice programmes in Joinery, Electrical Installation, Securities, Mechanical, Electrical and Maintenance Engineering all in new fully fitted workshops.

Health and Safety 

Motherwell College offers a range of Health and Safety courses that include IOSH Managing and
Working Safely and the NEBOSH National General Certificate, Moving and Handling and First Aid.
At the same time we deliver bespoke courses for industry.

Highers & Intermediates

We have an extensive range of subjects at Higher and Intermediate levels. You may require these qualifications to allow you to access further study opportunities. All staff have vast experience in the delivery of these programmes.

Hospitality & Professional Cookery

The Department of Hospitality and Professional Cookery provides everything you could need
to establish a career in the hospitality and food industries. We have designed a range of courses to suit every level of entrant. We have first class teaching and learning facilities and a professional, well qualified, dedicated team of lecturers and support staff.

Languages

We are building on our success of English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) courses, which are proving more popular than ever. We are giving real opportunities to people to develop the necessary English skills required to access employment or further study. We also offer Spanish language courses for people seeking to improve employment related skills in foreign languages or as general interest..

Performing Arts

A wide range of full-time courses are on offer in Musical Theatre, Acting & Performance and Music,
from National Certificate to Degree. Led by a team of highly skilled practitioners, these vocational courses are delivered in a challenging and vibrant artistic environment, with exciting performance opportunities available to learners..

Social Sciences

The curriculum has been developed to ensure you keep abreast of current developments in the fast
changing field of social sciences. Students visit the Scottish Parliament and other places of interest to increase knowledge and understanding of our social world. We offer excellent access level courses, as well as progression to HND level..

With the leisure industry changing at an unstoppable pace, the highly qualified sport and fitness staff team know just how to keep you ahead of the competition.
