Motherwell College to Offer New College Learning Programmes from August 2012
Motherwell College has been awarded funding as part of a new innovative programme managed by Skills Development Scotland (SDS).
Applications are now open for the ‘New College Learning Programmes’ commencing August 2012. Programmes are being offered in Automotive Studies, Customer Care and Administration, ICT, Professional Cookery, Care, Construction, Electrical Engineering, Fabrication and Welding, Computer Aided Draughting and Hairdressing.
Targeting those aged 16 to 24 years, the short programmes will focus on the long-term employability of learners. Programmes will have a vocational focus preparing learners for the workplace and all feature work experience placements.
Hugh Logan, Principal and Chief Executive of Motherwell College said:
“We welcome this additional funding. In Lanarkshire student demand significantly exceeds current provision and this funding will extend the range of activity that the college can offer to its community.
“We are continuously working with local employers to develop the skills of our learners. The funding will assist us in supporting additional student places and give more young people the opportunity to meet their aspirations and employers’ needs.”
